PREDICTION OF DURABILITY OF THERMOPLASTIC ADHESIVE JOINTS OF BIRCH WOOD

Abstract


Some methods and techniques for investigation and prediction of the durability of adhesive of wood joints have been analyzed. It has been proposed that durability of thermoplastic adhesive of birch wood joints is predicted by using a mathematical model which takes into account the coefficient for wood species. Using a mathematical model, a prediction of the durability of thermoplastic adhesive joints of birch wood depending on service conditions has been carried out. The results of the studies on the durability have shown that elevated ambient temperatures lead to decreasing the durability of thermoplastic polyvinyl acetate adhesive birch wood joints, while increased ambient humidity, on the contrary, leads to a slight increase in the durability.
