QUANTATIVE CHARACTERISTICS OF EUROPEAN PINE, EUROPEAN BEECH AND NORWAY SPRUCE QUALITY INDICATORS IN VIZNITSKY NNP FOREST STANDS

Abstract


During researches basic density, leaves percentage in foliage, and also bone-dry content in leaves (needles) for the superior woody species of the national natural park "Vizhnistky" (NNP "Vizhnistky") have been assessed. In total 33 temporary study plots laid personally by the author and the scientists of the departments of forest management, forest inventory and forest regulation of National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine were used. Forty three model trees (MT) of European pine, 59 MT of European beech and 77 MT of Norway spruce with the phytomass assessment were used on TSPs. Based on the average density of tree, bark and wood in the bark of branches at relative bole height general average indexes of main stem phytomass components of European pine, European beech and Norway spruce trees were calculated. Also a comparative analysis of the obtained indexes with the normative data of wood, bark trunks and tree branches density was conducted. Thus the research has revealed that wood density of European pine in bark ranges from 337 to 428 kg (m³)-1, wood density of Norway spruce ranges from 298 to 387 kg (m³)-1. Bark density of European pine is in the range of 320‑569 kg (m³)-1, bark density of Norway spruce is 286-388 kg (m³)-1. Average wood density in European beech bark ranges from 474 to 623 kg (m³)-1, bark indexes are in the range of 337‑531 kg (m³)-1. In comparison with normative indexes experimental ones are somewhat below. During research of age effect on average wood density and wood in European pine bark it is found that this taxation index does not significantly affect. However, the average bark density increases with age. Basic wood density in bark and branches bark are higher than the corresponding indexes of trunk density. Average wood density of European beech branches is conversely less by 69 kg m³)-1, than the trunk density. Leaves proportion in foliage does not depend on age, diameter and bole height and on the average is 71.3 % for pine, 66.9 % for beech, 81.8 % for spruce. The average content of bone-dry in 1 kg of pine fresh leaves (needles) is 0.461, of beech – 0.450, spruce – 0.453. Working results can be used for further study, modeling and bioproductivity assessment in forest stands of NNP "Vizhnistky".
