Abstract

Silvicultural and inventory indices of beech stands of Bukovina were analysed based on the materials of forest inventory. It was established that natural seed stands dominate in lowland areas. It is found that intensive forest management in middle-aged and mature stands significantly reduce their relative completeness, stocks and output of high-quality materials. In order to form high productive stands it is advisable to slightly reduce relative completeness of beech stands, to develop growth standards for normal and modal beech stands, as well as specifications of evaluation and use of diverse functions of beech forests.
